漫画、アニメの大ヒット作品である「タッチ」ですが、その映画の作品です。
原作の漫画では、主人公の1人上杉和也が1年生の夏の大会の決勝戦当日に交通事故にあい、そのまま明青学園野球部は敗退しますが、映画版ではこの部分のストーリーが全く違うものになっています。
上杉和也が交通事故にあうまでのストーリーは原作と同じですが、映画版ではこの当時はボクシング部に所属していた達也が和也のユニフォームを着て球場に現れ、なんと試合に出場してしまいます。
また原作ではこの時には登場していなかったライバルである須見工業の新田が登場して、達也と対決しています。
